The best cycling trails in the UK can be found at various locations, including the Peak District and Cornwall, but it depends on whether it’s an easy going, intermediate or more demanding trail that cyclists want to try.
Experiences.co.uk, which has a range of cycling experiences to enjoy, including cycle rides, tours and bike hire, has compiled its recommendations, including on E-Bikes, to help cyclists decide.
Peak District – Monsal Trail
The Peak District in central-northern England is a magnet for cyclists, no surprise given its stunning landscape and variety of cycling trails to enjoy.
One of these is the famous Monsal Trail. It stretches 8.5 miles and follows the former Manchester to London Midland Railway Line which closed some 60 years ago.
It’s a great ride for those looking for easy access and flat surfaces, winding its way through majestic limestone scenery.
Cornwall – Camel Trail
The south-west of England also has more than its fair share of incredible cycling trails, not least the Camel Trail.
Snaking its way from Padstow to Wenford Bridge, it offers about 18 miles of cycling bliss along an old railway line.
The route is perfect for less experienced cyclists and families as it’s mainly flat, while the wonderful scenery includes woodlands and wild marshlands.
Co Armagh – Craigavon Lakes Mountain Bike Trail
Slightly more challenging, but no less fun, this 10km loop in Northern Ireland requires some basic off-road riding experience.
It rewards cyclists with dramatic woodlands and wildflower meadows, plus lovely views of the lake.
Ideal for families and novice mountain bikers, refreshments, if needed, are also close to hand with cafés nearby.
West Coast of Scotland – The Circuit of Great Cumbrae
This is a popular cycling day out for families and offers a relaxed, mainly level circuit along the coast.
It is accessed by a short ferry ride (which adds to the excitement) from Largs, and it normally takes one to two hours to complete the cycle route.
Destinations along the way include the town of Millport, Crocodile Rock, Lion Rock and Fintry Bay.
South Wales – Three Parks Trail
Why cycle in one picturesque park when you can cycle in three? That’s exactly what cyclists enjoy on this 13 mile trail which goes through park land and wild oak woodland.
Highlights include a listed 16-arch viaduct, Sultan the Pit Pony (the UK’s largest figurative earth sculpture) and The Wheels of Dram, an 8m high artwork.
If that wasn’t enough, then there are picnic spots and places to eat, so cyclists can recharge their energy levels to make the most of the delightful trail.
Sussex – Half Day E-Bike Hire
The glorious Sussex countryside in the south of England is the perfect setting to enjoy a half day E-Bike Hire thanks to Experiences.co.uk.
Magnificent coastlines, sandy paths and rocky terrains await. And the best part is that the E-Bike will do all the hard work!
