Celebrating English Tourism Week With Experiences UK

Spring is here, and so is the perfect time to explore the beauty of England's tourism industry. English Tourism Week, organised by Visit Britain and Visit England, is an annual celebration that showcases the industry's importance, value, and significant contribution to the UK economy, government, and stakeholders. From 15th - 24th March, you'll have the chance to be a part of this grand event and experience the best of English tourism. Join us in celebrating and promoting this thriving industry that makes the UK a top tourist destination.

English Tourism Week aims to kickstart the spring / summer season, and give businesses and destinations a marketing opportunity to engage with customers and encourage bookings - also, keep your eyes out for the odd competition, as these usually run around this time, too.

It aims to allow businesses to engage with local stakeholders such as the media and MPs to bring attention to tourism’s contribution to their area. As well as those travelling into the country it is also for those who already live here. Encouraging them to visit English heritage sites and national trust places and embrace the treasures their local areas have to offer.

Composing 80% of the UK’s visitor economy, English tourism generated over £100 billion a year and supported 2.6 million jobs in 2019, according to Visit England. Overseas visitors to England spent £24.8 billion in this same year, making 36.1 million trips. Tourism spending in the UK is spread across the region, but the hub for many visitors was London, with £33.2bn spent in the city.

In 2022, £88.93 billion was spent on tourism in the UK. This included 107 million overnight domestic trips, 945 million domestic day trips, and 27.8 million inbound trips. In 2024, the forecast is that inbound visits will increase to 39.5 million and £34.1 billion spend, an exciting year ahead for those in the tourism industry.

If you're looking for a way to celebrate Tourism Week, Experiences UK has a wide variety of fun-filled days out for you and your loved ones to choose from or to spend quality time with your friends and family.
