About the experience
Treat the nature lover and budding photographer in your life and witness the stunning Autumn colours unfurl amongst the trees with this Batsford Arboretum half day Photography workshop. Not only will you get a guided three hour tour of the Arboretum, but an in depth photography lesson from an expert. Alan Ranger will guide you through how to use a wide angle lens, zoom and capture nature in action as it happens. Not only is he a renowned expert, but his lessons are educational, engaging and hands on, perfect for learning the practical side of photography and capturing the beautiful landscape around you. This 56 acre estate will never be short of inspiration as it’s not only home to some of the rarest trees but has a long history starting in the 1880s with Algernon Mitford. The Arboretum was then bequeathed in 1992 to the Batsford Foundation and is now a renowned visitor attraction in the heart of the Cotswolds. Even on busier days you will find peace and tranquillity amongst the spectacular, shady trees as you try and capture the autumnal nature in all its glory. At every path you turn down, you’re guaranteed to stumble across something that captures your eye and you will be in the best hands to learn how to take the perfect photograph and capture a moment. For outdoor lovers who are itching to get started in photography, this is the ideal experience. Not only will it provide you with endless inspiration, but give you the vital hands on experience to tackle outdoor, nature photography in the future.

- A brief introduction for 20-30 min and a lesson on basic camera settings, techniques and the things to look for
- 3hr guided walk around the best seasonal part of Batsford Arboretum for taking stunning photos
- Work with your tutor to review your shots, try new ideas and improve your photography
- Capture close-up macro or a wider perspective
- Choose from a morning or afternoon half-day session
- Entrance to the Arboretum, where applicable, is included
- You will form part of a small group of six participants
Information
- Under 16's welcome but must be accompanied by a participating adult
- Workshops are suitable to any level of experience as 1 to 1 tuition is provided throughout
- A good, general level of fitness is required to be able to be able to deal with the walking and occasional steps or gradients involved
- Workshops run daily between 29th October - 3rd November 2024
- Due to popularity, it is recommended you book well in advance to secure your date
- Vouchers must be booked and redeemed before 3rd November 2024
- Morning Session: 08.00-11:30
- Afternoon Session: 12:30-16:00

Minimum Age: 16 years
- Any camera and lens is suitable - zoom and wide angle and macro lens are an advantage
- A tripod is advised, especially for doing close-up shots but also if booking the sunrise session
- A tripod can be hired for the workshop at £10 - Please advise when booking your date if required
- A polariser filter is useful but not essential
- Remote Release cable is useful, but alternatively, you can use the self-timer on the camera
